Winnie is a first generation immigrant-settler of Chinese descent from Hong Kong.
Winnie is a parent, former educator, and longstanding arts education programmer and administrator with 20 years’ experience in Vancouver’s arts and culture sector. Winnie believes it is vital for young people to have access to artistic experiences in their schools and communities that represent different perspectives, explore humanity’s many cultures and intersecting identities, and inspire their awareness and action toward equity and justice. Winnie is committed to advancing representation and inclusion in the arts so that youth can imagine and create a world that truly values equality and celebrates diversity.
For me, working in the arts as an Asian Canadian is a means to take space and make space, to ensure that the voices, faces, stories, and lives of our communities are visible, valued, and validated.
