Karen Ancheta

Director/Actor/Writer/Intern at Theatre Aquarius

Karen Ancheta is a Filipina Canadian director, actor, writer, A.D./co-founder of Porch Light Theatre Hamilton & The House Key Project. Co-founder of The Garden Project/Party w/ Industry, an initiative supporting celebrating IBPOC artists through mentorship in Hamilton. She is an original member of Hamilton 7, and has worked w/Kwentong Bayan, Filipinas Of Hamont,  Open Heart, YPT, Carousel Players, Red Betty, Sulong, Carlos Bulosan Theatre, fu-GEN, Stratford Festival, Factory Theatre, Cahoots/B-current, Light Echo and Lighthouse Festival and Capitol Theatre Port Hope. Currently working on Healing Thread w/ Tethered the Ghost, and on a new play w/Anna Chatterton called O.A. Selected film credits: One Small Visit directed by Jo Chim and You’re Invited directed by Aviva Armour-Ostroff. Karen is a recipient of a Hamilton Arts Award 2021. Karen is a Metcalf Intern in Artistic Direction mentored by Mary Francis Moore at Theatre Aquarius.
